VICTORIA WILMOTTE
Victoria Wilmotte est née à Paris. Après avoir étudié le design d’intérieur à l’école Camondo, elle part à Londres pour étudier au Royal College of Art en design sous la direction de Ron Arad. Après avoir complété son Master, elle rentre à Paris en 2008 et ouvre son studio.
L’année suivante, elle dessine des carafes pour Tools Gallery et inaugure sa première exposition personnelle dans la galerie bruxelloise Pierre Bergé & Associés. Victoria Wilmotte a dessiné des projets pour ClassiCon, Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Made in Design, Poliform, Wallpaper, Piasa…
Victoria développe depuis toujours un intérêt particulier pour les matériaux, les formes ainsi que les procédés de fabrication, industriels comme artisanaux. Le minéral et l’acier restent des domaines qu’elle affectionne particulièrement.
Une fascination méthodique et minutieuse que l’on rapprocherait davantage à celle d’un sculpteur. Entre la ligne droite et l’angle taillé, le jeu des pleins et des vides, permet à Victoria d’offrir un œil singulier sur l’univers domestique qui demeure aujourd’hui son domaine d’intérêt.

About Striato Zigzag
“The Striato marble zigzag vases are the result of researches around metal folding. They refer to simple and industrial shapes that inspire me on a daily basis. The vases’ shapes are ennobled by the marble material, the idea is to freeze the metal in a material that does not bend. The milling technique used to develop the vases is the opposite of the one used for metal since we start from a solid block. The machining ultimately makes it possible to recreate the visual lightness created by folding in an ancestral material.”
